Overview
The Talent Acquisition department of WorkSafeBC is looking for a highly motivated, conscientious, and professional Co-op student, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, with a keen interest in data-science, analysis, and program evaluation to join our team to help us strive towards our vision.
The Co-op Student is responsible for performing or assisting in the implementation of standardized hiring assessments within WorkSafeBC. Due to the nature of the activities performed by the department, the Co-op Student requires discretion and tact in handling confidential and sensitive information relating WorkSafeBC policies and operations and information relating to specific divisions, departments or WorkSafeBC employees.
The Co-op program is intended to be a learning experience for the student by supplementing the student's academic studies with related work experience.
This is a four-month temporary opportunity (300 hours) beginning in May 2024 with a possibility of extending to 8 months. How you'll make a difference: You'll apply what you've learned in your post-secondary program to benefit workers and employers across B.C.
Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.
In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and, on occasion, work from our Richmond office.
What you'll do
- Assists, under direction, in the implementation of new hiring assessments for key WorkSafeBC roles.
- Prepares and conducts validation studies of current and future hiring assessments.
- Develops and administers hiring manager surveys to examine satisfaction with hiring assessments.
- Evaluates hiring assessments for their validity, reliability, adverse impact and viability for WorkSafeBC roles.
- Deliver training to key stakeholders on hiring assessment best practices within the context of WorkSafeBC.
- Undertakes a variety of special projects as required or assigned which may include the development of a new hiring assessment.
- To remain current and follow both WorkSafeBC Standards of Conduct, CPA's Code of Ethics, and APA's Standard for Psychological and Educational Testing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Your background and experience
- Enrollment in a university Industrial/Organizational Psychology program and registered within the university's co-operative/internship program
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office: MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Experience in database, reporting, and statistical tools
